“Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy, got my glasses- I’m out the door- I’M GONNA HIT THIS CITY!” This song came on as I was running on the treadmill, so I decided it would be an appropriate theme song for the day. The gym I go to is called Eastern Athletic. It offers sports, fitness and spas. It has multiple classes every day like spin, zumba and cardio kickboxing. Jessica, Kathrina and I decided we are going to pick and attend 5 classes a week. We need to stay in shape if we are going to be eating out as much as we do! After my workout, Jessica and I got ready and headed down to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, which overlooks Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Before reading some of my Music book for my online class, Jessica and I sat on a bench and talked for a while. She is such a nice girl; we get along great! As we sat, we witnessed a Bride and Groom taking their wedding pictures, a dog walker walking seven dogs (well, I hope she was a dog walker and just didn’t own seven dogs) and joggers of all types. It was a peaceful, relaxing place to enjoy the Brooklyn Heights environment. The weather today was a bit chilly; cloudy and in the mid-60s. I had on jeans and a tank top and was shivering. After 2 1/2 hours at the Promenade, Jessica and I headed back to the room to “sprousin’ up” for dinner. We met Kathrina downstairs at 5 o’clock and walked to a pizza place called Grimaldi’s.Their was a waiting line outside of the restaurant. About 30 people deep, we were seated in about 25 minutes. “The menu was simple: choose the size, the sauce and the toppings, and get ready to experience pizza nirvana.” Among the three of us, we ordered two small pizzas: one with extra cheese and the other with Italian sausage. The pizzas are cooked in a coal fired brick oven, which gives the pizza a crisp and distinct smokey flavor. For dessert, we all split a Cannoli. I guess you could call me uncultured because I had never heard of it, but it was scrumptious. A Cannoli consist of tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling usually containing ricotta. After dinner, we grabbed a bottle of wine and came back to our room for a nice, relaxing evening. We met one of our neighbors who lives across the hall. His name is Andrew and he is from Missouri and attends school in Indiana. Our motto: The more people we meet, the merrier! Maybe by my 21st birthday, I will have met a lot of people who will be able to go out and celebrate with me?! I WISH. With a little wine and talking and t.v. in the mix, I was ready to call it a night by 9:30 p.m.
